Coffee House and Clothing Shop
The Coffee House Foundation on Haarlemmerstraat is a safe place for homeless and undocumented visitors. The foundation is a social enterprise that is largely run by and for its participants. Volunteers are deployed where necessary. We offer participants work projects where they also receive coffee, lunch and clean clothing. The street cleaning and gardening teams work on the streets and ensure a clean and colourful environment. In this way, we show that homeless people are more than the prejudices often claim.

The clothing shop next to the Coffee House is open daily and is a place where many people like to come to discover beautiful “treasures” or to chat with the sales staff or other customers. The shop is filled with donations from generous donors from the neighbourhood and the city. The proceeds from the sale of clothing go towards the objectives of our foundation. The shop also gives free clothing to participants in the Coffee House’s work projects. The clothing shop is run entirely by a permanent pool of enthusiastic volunteers.

The participants and volunteers form a friendly community that works together to make the world a little bit better.

What can you bring to the table?
• You are open, friendly and cheerful by nature.
• You are confident enough to serve the clothing shop’s very diverse clientele in a friendly manner: young, old, local and city residents of all kinds, tourists, homeless people and undocumented migrants.
• It is an advantage if you speak several languages.
• Because there is a staircase in the shop, it is useful if you are mobile.
• You are available at least one fixed part of the day per week.

The shop is open every day of the week from 12 noon to 6 p.m. and working hours are based on availability and in consultation.
