Under the motto “food connects,” we’ll be handing out Freedom Soup to visitors at Amsterdam Central Station. Would you enjoy warming up soup, serving people, and chatting with passers- by? Then we’d love your help!
On May 5, Freedom Meals are served throughout the Netherlands—in community centers, restaurants, museums, and public spaces. At Amsterdam Central Station, the Amsterdam 4 and 5 May Committee, Dialoog in Actie, and Nederlandse Spoorwegen are joining forces to encourage unexpected encounters and conversations about what freedom means to each of us.
What will you do?
In the station’s central hall, we’ll set up a distribution point where soup is heated and served in to-go cups. Together with a small team, you’ll:
• Warm up and serve soup
• Keep the distribution running smoothly
• Hand out free cups to visitors
• Start conversations using question cards
A location manager will be present throughout the day to support you.
Times
Soup will be distributed between 11:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m, with multiple shifts available.
There’s also an optional online preparatory meeting with dialogue facilitators—a nice way to meet others beforehand.
What’s in it for you?
• Meet new people and have spontaneous conversations
• Contribute to an important day for the city
• Feel free to take a tin of soup home afterwards
