About Blend

Blend is a cosy community café and meeting place in Amsterdam City Centre for young people and young adults seeking offline connection, personal growth, or a way back into everyday life. Whether that’s after illness, a big life transition, or simply because they want to build more connection with themselves, others, and their community.

What makes Blend distinctive is that it’s almost entirely powered by volunteers. By showing up, working together, and being trusted with real responsibility, people build confidence, connection, and practical skills alongside home, school, or work.

What we’re looking for

We’re building out our Community Management team at Blend. Comprised of Lead Community Coordinator(s) and Supporting Community Coordinator(s), this team will share the important role of keeping our community lively and engaged.

Together this team is responsible for; making sure people feel welcome, connecting our activities to what our community actually needs, and building bridges between Blend and the wider world such as universities, potential volunteers, and future visitors.

Please note; our physical café location is temporarily closed. Our community gathering point is relocated to an alternative space in the building. This role is central to keeping our community connected and engaged during that interim period, and to helping us build momentum for when we reopen. Some day to day tasks will look a little different than a typical “in the café” role until then.

Lead Community Coordinator(s)
• Owns the overall community engagement plan and sets direction for the Supporting Coordinators
• Helps safeguard the warmth, safety, and culture of our community as we grow. Keeping our rhythm, values, and identity consistent over time
• Main point of contact for the Blend board and Core Team on all things community
• Leads outreach efforts; building relationships with universities, student associations, and community partners
• Will be working closely with the various teams within Blend. As well as coördinating closely with the activities coordinator so community engagement and programming stay connected
• Helps plan how we rebuild in-person community momentum ahead of reopening

Good fit if you: have some prior experience coordinating a team, project, or event (formal or informal), enjoy taking initiative, and want to build genuine leadership experience in a mission-driven organisation. Existing knowledge of Amsterdam’s social-organisation network is a nice-to-have, given the outreach side of this role.

Supporting Community Coordinator(s)
• Acts as the day-to-day contact point for volunteers on community related matters
• Helps action the wider outreach and engagement plans set by the Lead Coordinator
• Will be working closely with the various teams within Blend. As well as coördinating closely with the activities coordinator so community engagement and programming stay connected
• Helps safeguard the warmth, safety, and culture of our community as we grow. Keeping our rhythm, values, and identity consistent over time
• Builds connections with volunteers and helps them feel welcomed and involved, including regular updates and check-ins, especially during the closure
• Contributes ideas for how Blend can grow its community, both in the cafe and beyond

Good fit if you: are sociable, organised, and want a hands on entry point into community building and outreach work. No formal experience required, just enthusiasm and reliability.

• Location: Amsterdam, Waterlooplein area
• Commitment: minimum 3–6 months, roughly 4–8 hours/week (can vary)
• Languages: comfortable working in English; Dutch is a plus
• Start: Interviews begin in September, ideally quick start after
