Every Sunday near Dam Square, Treasure House opens its doors as a warm living room for people experiencing homelessness. We are looking for volunteers to chat, cook a meal together, and listen — becoming familiar faces in each other’s week.

From 13:00 to 19:00, Treasure House offers a space for people to come in, sit down, have a coffee or tea, and simply breathe — no pressure, no rush, just a place to feel human.

We believe everyone is equal. As volunteers, we chat, cook a meal together, and share it with everyone. Over time, we become familiar and trusted faces in each other’s lives, listening with compassion and being willing to share a little of our own stories.

What you’d be doing:
– Making teas and coffees
– Helping prepare, cook, and serve the meal
– Clearing dishes and tidying at the end of the day
– Welcoming guests and having conversations
– Bringing your own touch (play guitar, suggest an activity, or try something new…)

Who we’re looking for:
– Warm, responsible attitude that helps foster a friendly environment
– Openness toward people with different lifestyles
– Someone who can take initiative and ownership of tasks
– No Dutch required — most volunteers speak English, though it’s a nice place to practice Dutch
– Cooking skills are a bonus, but not required
– Willingness to commit for a minimum of 4 months
– Bonus if you speak Polish — you can connect with more of our guests
– Volunteers to help with our website or Facebook page, if that’s something you enjoy or have experience with

Working hours:
Treasure House is open every Sunday, 13:00–19:00. You’re welcome to join for a half shift (12:45–16:00 or 16:00–19:15) or the full day — hours are flexible.
