Do you believe that less waste can be achieved through creativity and repair? Come help out at one of the repair cafés of the Afvalpaleis, a project of Jungle Amsterdam.
The Afvalpaleis is a place to experience sustainability. No complicated stories, no expensive systems, but simple everyday tips and examples that can be easily applied. These tips can help save money, but are also environmentally friendly. As the Afvalpaleis we offer services like guided tours, repair cafes and consultation hours on sustainability, as well as a giveaway shop in order to reuse as much as possible. For a lot of people sustainability is something distant and unfamiliar, something for people with a lot of money. We are an accessible space in which everyone can feel welcome.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
You help visitors repair electric devices. In addition, you help with repairing and upcycling paraphernalia that are brought in for the giveaway shop, so that they can be passed along to new users.
WHAT TYPE OF KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ARE NEEDED?
You can carry out all kinds of electrical repairs.

WHAT IS THE ADDED VALUE OF THIS VOLUNTEER WORK?
You help people become aware of the possibilities of repairing objects and you help reducing waste. You also help people that are living in poverty to save money, this way we reduce poverty but we also tackle loneliness.
WORKING HOURS:
The electronics repair cafe has two shifts on Wednesday:
in the morning from 11:00 – 14:30
in the afternoon from 14:00 – 17:30
