Every week we ride into the heart of Amsterdam with our electric cargo bike, full of fresh coffee, cheese sandwiches, biscuits—and most importantly, a listening ear.
These encounters prove to be a source of encouragement to both the volunteers as well as the people experiencing homelessness.
While we can’t solve all of their challenges, we do break down social barriers by raising awareness and building mutual respect. Together, we create moments that matter.
How It Works:
You start at 18 Nieuwe Herengracht from the basement where a Coffee Bike will be waiting for you.
A Coffee Bike ride lasts 2, 5 to 3 hours. You will be cycling with your buddy. You make coffee together, enjoying a cup yourselves and prepare sandwiches. It will take you about half an hour to get ready before you take off on your adventure.
You’ll cycle along a set path through the centre of Amsterdam, handing out coffee while engaging in friendly conversations with the people currently living on the street.
Fun to know:
AT5 (the local television station) joined us on one of our rides. Check the feature “The Street is a Shitty Life”, where Britt and Irene ride the Coffee Bike past the homeless handing out coffee and food.

You can also bring a friend. Or, if you are already a volunteer and have been infected by the Coffee Bike virus, ask someone along who you think should also experience this.
We ask you to volunteer at least once a month. Scheduling is flexible. You fill in your days and times via Koffiets app.
Join us for a volunteer meet-up on Friday, August 9, at 4.30 p.m. featuring a workshop by the Regenboog on the Blue Booklet (a social map for homeless people) and a delicious Syrian meal to wrap it all up.. We hope to meet you there!
We really need your help this summer as many of our regular volunteers are away on holiday!
