What we do:

Our online helpdesk is a place where newcomers to the Netherlands can ask questions — big or small — about navigating life here. We don’t just give quick answers: we listen, research, and work together to find meaningful solutions. We also use what we learn to improve the systems around newcomers, so that in the future, navigating life in the Netherlands becomes easier and fairer.

Your role as a volunteer: You’ll answer real questions from newcomers, leaning on OpenEmbassy’s body of knowledge and doing your own research when needed. You don’t need to know everything about the Dutch system — what matters most is knowing how to find the answers and communicate them clearly and compassionately.
This role is online and flexible — you can plan your own hours to fit your schedule. We ask for 4 – 16 hours per week, depending on your availability.
