Do you enjoy meeting people and discovering special places?

Become a volunteer at the Mozes en Aäronkerk and welcome visitors during the church’s open afternoons. This is a unique place filled with art, culture and compassion in the heart of Amsterdam.

The Mozes en Aäronkerk at Waterlooplein is one of Amsterdam’s most beautiful churches. Behind its impressive façade, you will find remarkable works of art, a rich history and many stories. Every Thursday and Friday afternoon, we open the doors to local residents, tourists and passersby.

As a volunteer, you are the first person visitors meet. You offer them a warm welcome, have a friendly conversation and share something about the church’s art, architecture, history or activities. With your attention and enthusiasm, you help create an open atmosphere where everyone feels welcome.

During the summer, the church comes alive with concerts and cultural activities. You will meet people from Amsterdam and from all over the world.

A church filled with compassion

The Mozes en Aäronkerk is also home to Sant’Egidio in Amsterdam, a community of volunteers committed to friendship with people experiencing homelessness, older people, migrants and others who may need support and companionship. Hospitality and personal encounters are at the heart of everything that happens here.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who enjoys meeting people and welcoming visitors in a friendly and open way. An interest in art, culture, history or the social work of Sant’Egidio is welcome.

You are comfortable working independently and also enjoy being part of a committed team. Enthusiasm, curiosity and a welcoming attitude are the most important qualities. We will provide the information you need to help visitors discover the church.

You do not need to speak perfect Dutch. Volunteering at the church also offers a friendly and natural way to practise your Dutch, meet local people and become more connected to Amsterdam.

What do we offer?

You will volunteer in a beautiful place filled with stories and memorable encounters. You will meet people from around the world, join a warm and friendly team and contribute to an open and welcoming place in the heart of Amsterdam.

Interested? We would love to meet you!
