Gardening at the Food Garden for groups

With a beautiful view over the IJ and the city, growing vegetables for the food bank, a great way to roll up your sleeves and put your hands in the earth together with a team!

Food garden IJplein is a communal vegetable garden for and by local residents. Most of the organically grown vegetables and herbs are added to the food packages of the Food Banks in Amsterdam North and processed in the meals of Resto van Harte. The garden also has a lot of social value for the neighborhood and the volunteers themselves.

People from all kinds of backgrounds meet each other, which is very nice! In short, the garden is a place where you can find a lot: nature, social interaction, being outside and exercising, growing healthy vegetables and contributing to biodiversity and food quality. To keep the garden as beautiful and productive as possible, we are looking for groups and/or organizations that want to help us regularly. Especially in spring and summer, we need a lot of extra hands to get the beds weed-free, sown and harvested on time.

What we are looking for:
– Groups of around 10 people.
– Preferably on a recurring basis, but one-off activities are negotiable.
– On Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday.
– Especially in spring and summer.
– Some knowledge of gardening is desirable
– A relief donation in the form of garden supplies.
