TAAKOMSCHRIJVING
De Jungle heeft de grootste openbare boekenkast van Amsterdam, mensen kunnen boeken brengen en ook halen. Ze mogen de boeken houden, of na lezing weer terug brengen.Je bent overdag (1 of 2 keer pw) aanwezig in de Jungle aanwezig. Je neemt boeken in ontvangst, ontvangt mensen die boeken willen lenen, geeft informatie aan bezoekers. Je sorteert binnen gekomen boeken op soort, plaatst ze in de kasten en houdt de boekenkasten op orde. Je maakt promotie voor de bibliotheek, eventueel kun je een blogje schrijven, waarbij je een boek dat je aanspreekt uitlicht. Je organiseert regelmatig activiteiten in de bieb, bijvoorbeeld voorleesochtenden of middagen voor kinderen of ouderen. Je nodigt gasten uit, voor een boekbespreking. Je legt een bestand aan van geïnteresseerden, mensen die op de hoogte willen worden gehouden van de activiteiten in de bieb. Je schrijft korte stukjes over de activiteiten voor de website en facebook. Als je wilt kun je ook een schrijfclub oprichten of een leesclub.

WAT VOOR KENNIS OF VAARDIGHEDEN ZIJN NODIG?
Je houdt van boeken en van lezen en hebt affiniteit met de missie van de Jungle. Je vindt het leuk om met mensen om te gaan en mensen te informeren en te adviseren. Je vindt het ook leuk om activiteiten te organiseren en gasten uit te nodigen. Je bent in staat om korte stukjes te schrijven over de boeken en de activiteiten.Je bent minimaal 1 dag, of twee dagdelen per week beschikbaar.

WAT VOOR KENNIS OF VAARDIGHEDEN ZIJN NODIG?
Geen echte scholing, wel begeleiding en overleg en feedback.

WAT KRIJG JE ER VOOR TERUG?
Jungle is een nieuwe organisatie waar nog van alles ontwikkeld wordt waarbij je ook zelf invloed kunt uitoefenen. Je krijgt gratis toegang tot alle activiteiten van Jungle. Prettige collega’s en een open sfeer. Veel vrijheid om zelf werkzaamheden in te delen en eigen projecten te ontwikkelen. Er zijn altijd mensen aanwezig om mee te denken en doen. Kans om nieuwe ervaringen en kennis op te doen.

WAT IS DE MEERWAARDE VAN DIT VRIJWILLIGERSWERK?
Jungle Amsterdam, podium voor Cultuur en andere Belangrijke Zaken, is een centrum voor muziek, cultuur en duurzaamheid. Diverse soorten optredens, debatten, discussies en talkshows met name rond de thema’s natuur en milieu, maar ook rond andere relevante maatschappelijke en sociale vraagstukken. Je helpt mee om mensen bewuster te maken en actief tebetrekken bij de verduurzaming van onze planeet ..

WERKTIJDEN
De buurtbieb is in principe open voor publiek van maandag tm vrijdag van 10.00 tot 18.00 uur en daarnaast tijdens activiteiten in de avonden en weekenden. Werktijden in overleg, met name overdag.

HOE KOM JE IN AANMERKING?
In een aanname gesprek worden afspraken gemaakt over werktijden, taken, begeleiding, e.d. Als dit gesprek positief is, volgt er een proefperiode, waarin je kunt kijken of het werk iets voor je is.

Librarian

You keep the library structured, welcome visitors, inform visitors and organize small activities.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Jungle has the largest public library of Amsterdam, people can bring in books and also take books home. They can keep the books for themselves, or they can bring them back after reading them. You are present in the Jungle during the day, once or twice a week. You receive books, help visitors that want to borrow a book, and answer their questions. You sort books that are brought in, place them on the shelfs and keep the library structured. You promote the library, you could, for example, write a blog in which you write about a book which you enjoyed. You regularly organize activities in the library, for example reading mornings and afternoons for children and elderly people. You invite guests for book reviews. You create a file for people that are interested in the library, who want to stay updated on ongoing activities. You write short pieces about the activities for our website and Facebook. You could also start a writing or reading club, if you would like.

WHAT TYPE OF KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ARE NEEDED?
You love books and reading, and have affinity for the mission of the Jungle. You enjoy being around people and inform and advise others. You also enjoy organizing activities and inviting guests. You are capable of writing short pieces about books you have read and the activities that are held. You are available for a minimum of one day, or two half-days per week.

WHAT DO YOU GET IN RETURN?
You don’t get an official training, but you are guided and there is plenty of time for consultation and feedback. Jungle is a new organization which is still in development. Here you get the chance to give your own input into this process. You get free entry to all the Jungle’s activities. Nice colleagues and a warm and open environment. Lots of freedom to participate in work activities and develop your own projects. There are always people present to help you with this. This work will give you the opportunity to gain new experience and knowledge.

WHAT IS THE ADDED VALUE OF THIS VOLUNTEER WORK?
Jungle Amsterdam, platform for Culture and other Important Subjects, is a centre for music, culture and sustainability. Several types of performances, debates, discussions and talk shows are hosted which mainly focus on themes regarding nature, the environment, and other relevant societal topics. You help people to become more aware and actively involved in the process of making our planet more sustainable.

WORKING HOURS
De neighbourhood library is usually open for the public from Monday to Friday from 10am until 6pm, it is also opened during activities that take place in the evenings and weekends. Working hours are in consultation, but usually take place during the day.

HOW DO YOU GET IN TOUCH?
