Are you fond of dogs? Do you enjoy going for walks and does having a four-legged friend by your side make you happy? But you don’t want to get a dog yourself (anymore)? The foundation OOPOEH can help you find an adorable dog to look after parttime.

How much time you want to spend with a dog is your own decision. We see that most of our dogsitters choose for 1 or 2 days (or parts of it) per week. However, less or more often is also possible. NB: We work with an age limit. We can only match you with a dog if you are 55 years of age or older.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Have you always had dogs, but you do not want or can no longer care for a dog of your own anymore? Do you like to go for walks but find it more fun to do this together with a dog? Through Foundation OOPOEH you can sign up as a dog sitter for a dog in your own neighborhood. Dog sitting is without obligation: you sit when it suits you; in your online profile you can indicate exactly how often and when you are available, and what kind of dog you would like to sit. The dog is brought to you by the owner and picked up again later in the day. You walk the dog from the comfort of your own home.

WHAT KNOWLEDGE OR SKILLS ARE REQUIRED?
Experience with dogs is a plus but not a requirement.

WHAT DO YOU GET IN RETURN?
A wagging tail, unconditional love and affection from the dog, amicable contact with the dog’s owner and numerous friendly chats on the street. You can also participate in the monthly outings that the OOPOEH Foundation organizes for all OOPOEHs, through which you meet other dog lovers (aged 55 or older), free of charge.

WHAT IS THE ADDED VALUE OF THIS VOLUNTEER WORK?
Sitting a dog is enjoyable and healthy. You are more active. You meet new people in the neighborhood. Sitting a dog is a source of comfort and brings coziness to your home: you feel less lonely. You help a local resident with the care of their dog. And you give the dog all the attention he/she deserves. Moreover, the OOPOEH Foundation organizes monthly outings for the OOPOEHs in which you can participate free of charge.
