WE ARE…
Wester-Amstel is a 17th century country house located on the outskirts of Amsterdam, along the Amstel river. Our park, gardens, and house are listed as historical monuments. The park and gardens are open to the public from April to October. A couple of large public events (Amstellanddag, Open Monumentendagen) take place in the park each year. The house is used for small public gatherings, including concerts, lectures etcetera. Over 35 volunteers help maintaining park and gardens, provide access to the public, and organizing further activities. Around 300 friends provide us with moral and financial support.
Communication activities are aimed at deepening ties with current friends and visitors and attracting new visitors, friends and volunteers belonging to our target-groups. A bi-lingual website, Facebook-group and Instagram-account, and a bi-annual digital newsletter form our major digital communication tools. Furthermore, there are about 8 significant local online/off-line media publications used for publicity purposes around upcoming events etc. Also, email is used for questions and feedback from visitors and friends. Physical brochures, onsite signage and welcoming volunteers complement our array of communication tools.
We currently have one communication volunteer. She has native English language skills, limited Dutch skills. We seek a second volunteer, preferably a native Dutch speaker, to work in collaboration to manage above communication activities. Pending on your interests and abilities, you might join our board, taking the lead responsibility for our PR activities.
