Would you like to contribute to a fun and carefree evening for girls from azc The Galaxy? And can you drive a minibus? Then you’re our woman! We are looking for a female driver who can pick up these girls and bring them to our youth centre in West!

We are looking for one or more drivers (female) on Thursday evenings (5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.). We at youth work organisation The Mall are starting a girls’ group at our location in Amsterdam West, in the Baarsjes neighbourhood. The girls in this group live at The Galaxy asylum seekers’ centre while awaiting their asylum procedure. They do not have their own transport and cannot come to our location independently. You will bring the girls to and from our location in our Volkswagen Transporter minivan (manual transmission) and ensure a pleasant atmosphere on the way. Thanks to your efforts, these girls can get away from the depressing asylum seekers’ centre on Thursday evenings and have a pleasant, safe and enjoyable evening at The Mall. We organise various activities, but we will regularly cook together – residents are not allowed to cook for themselves at The Galaxy.

This is what the Thursday evening will look like:
17:30 Pick up the minibus in Amsterdam West, De Baarsjes.
17:45 Pick up the girls at The Galaxy, Westerhoofd, Port of Amsterdam.
18:00 drop the girls off at The Mall, Amsterdam West
18:00-21:00 do something for yourself (on location, at home or in the neighbourhood) or participate in the group as a volunteer
21:00 departure back to The Galaxy
21:15 drop the girls off at The Galaxy
21:30 return the minibus to De Baarsjes

We are looking for someone who wants to do this on a regular basis, every Thursday evening, or we will put together a pool of drivers who will share the trips. We strongly prefer female volunteers. Preferably, you will start as soon as possible. We make the schedule together. You will need a valid driver’s licence for this position.
