Mineke Foundation is looking for an enthusiastic volunteer who can support a team of teachers with the continued development of arts and crafts curricula for grades preschool-high school Damiefa School in Dabwe Town, Liberia.
Ideally, we are looking for a volunteer who is physically located in the Netherlands because that is where the other volunteers are located who are working on this project. Willing to consider online collaboration, as well.
Looking for volunteers who can commit to 4-8 hours of volunteer work a month to generate step-by-step arts and crafts lesson plans in clear, simple, global English that will connect well with school children and teachers in Liberia. You must be willing to transfer / translate ideas from other curricula or online resources into written documents with step-by-step pictures to facilitate understanding. This is due to the lack of reliable internet in the area of the school and a lack of art education for teachers in Liberia.
Volunteers ideally also have teaching experience with young children including arts and crafts, language arts, curriculum development and/or drawing. Experience or willingness to work with a school with a lot of enthusiasm for arts and crafts but fewer material resources than many schools in other parts of the world. This impacts the types of lessons that will connect well and be feasible for the school.
Background with / connection to Liberia would be extremely welcome.
