ABOUT US
Stichting Educate International is an award-winning Dutch nonprofit foundation (ANBI) that supports education and youth empowerment in Honduras through fundraising and partnerships in the Netherlands. Funds raised by the foundation are transferred to our local sister organization in Honduras that implements and manages the educational projects.
Based in the rural coffee-growing community of Trinidad, Santa Barbara we run a Youth Center and Municipal Library that opens doors to educational opportunities. Our model of rural education has four key elements:
1) Scholarship programme: Our high school and university scholarship programme makes it possible for young people from remote communities to accord the transportation costs to continue their education.
2) Youth empowerment programmes: We run weekly programmes in visual arts, STEM, audiovisual communications, and sports, providing youth with leadership and personal development opportunities.
3) Leadership & gender justice workshops: Monthly workshops on personal development topics ensure young people are empowered to make informed decisions about their bodies and lives. We also train youth as facilitators.
4) Rural library network: We support communities in setting up and sustaining school-based community libraries across 14 rural communities (and counting!), providing what is often children’s first access to books.
Throughout our work we have a strong focus on local leadership, and all staff are local residents. In The Netherlands, we are run entirely by volunteers.

THE ROLE OF THE BOARD
We are building a small active board to expand educational opportunities for students in Honduras through fundraising and partnerships in the Netherlands.
The role of our board is focused on:
– Governance – legal and financial oversight
– Fundraising – opening doors, building donor relationships, and supporting campaigns
– Networking – partnership development and visibility
– Ambassadors – strengthening credibility, awareness, and community engagement

BOARD POSITION – TREASURER
As the foundation develops, we are seeking a Treasurer to oversee the financial management of the organization and support the board in maintaining transparency, accountability, and good governance. The Treasurer plays a key role in ensuring the financial health of the foundation and helping the board make informed decisions.

We are particularly interested in people who:
– Have experience or affinity with financial management, bookkeeping, budgeting, or nonprofit finance;
– Are organized, reliable, and comfortable working with financial information;
– Care about education, international development, and social impact;
– Enjoy contributing to a small and committed volunteer organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES
As a board member, you would:
– Contribute to the strategic direction of the foundation
– Attend board meetings approximately 4-6 times per year
– Help expand the organization’s network and visibility;
– Support fundraising initiatives, events, sponsorships, and partnerships;
– Act as an ambassador for the foundation.

In the role of Treasurer, additional responsibilities include:
– Overseeing the financial administration of the foundation;
– Monitoring income, expenses, and cash flow;
– Preparing or coordinating annual budgets and financial reports;
– Supporting compliance with Dutch ANBI and legal reporting requirements;
– Coordinating annual financial documentation and filings where required;
– Advising the board on financial planning and sustainability.

DESIRED PROFILE
We welcome candidates with experience or interest in areas such as:
– Finance, bookkeeping, accounting, or budgeting
– Nonprofit governance and compliance
– Fundraising or sponsorship development
– Education, youth development, or international development
– Philanthropic, corporate, or community networks
Previous board experience is helpful but not required.
