What is the Spaans Taalcafé?
The Spaans Taalcafé at Huis van de Wijk Buitenveldert is a welcoming community gathering where local residents come together to practice their Spanish in a relaxed, friendly, and conversational atmosphere. Through interactive activities, coffee, and open dialogue, we help neighbours build language skills and make real social connections.

What to expect:
Forget rigid corporate guidelines! As our Taalcafé Media & Tech Volunteer, you’ll be the creative eye and technical hand behind our growing community. You’ll capture the warm, authentic atmosphere of our sessions through photos and videos, help us showcase these moments on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, and lend a quick hand with basic tech setup when needed.
• When: Thursdays (flexible schedule—you don’t need to attend every week, just on agreed dates that fit your availability!)
• Time: 18:45 to 20:45 (includes brief setup and wrap-up)
• Where: Huis van de Wijk Buitenveldert
• Process: After signing up, there will be a brief introductory chat (by phone or in person) to get to know you.
Who are we?
The Huis van de Wijk Buitenveldert Community Center is an accessible meeting place in Amsterdam-Zuid where residents of all ages and backgrounds can connect, participate in activities, and support one another.
Our mission is to promote connection, participation, and social cohesion in the neighbourhood. We create spaces for social interaction, culture, and education, with special attention to residents at risk of social exclusion. We believe in a neighbourhood where everyone feels seen and heard.
Who are we looking for?
• You enjoy taking photos and recording short video clips (using your smartphone or camera).
• You are comfortable using or learning platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
• You enjoy helping out with basic technical tasks (sound, laptop, projector setup).
• You are reliable and available on Thursday evenings when scheduled.
• You enjoy meeting new people and capturing authentic community moments.
We seek volunteers who are enthusiastic about our mission. You don’t need to be a professional media expert or tech wizard—just someone creative, reliable, and keen to support our community’s growth.
