Board member with experience in fundraising for Community Centre in challenging new times.
In Stap Verder newcomers receive Dutch lessons, sewing lessons and handicrafts, and find information in social, medical, legal consultation hours.

Stap Verder is managed by the Stichting Pastoraal Diaconaal Centrum Bijlmermeer, a partnership of 6 churches, supported by approximately 40 churches in the area. With sixty volunteers, we receive around 400 visitors per year during more than 2000 conversations; many visitors have an African background. People who are temporarily without a place to stay can shower, do their laundry, cook or pick up a ready-made meal, charge their phone and receive mail.

A paid part-time co-ordinator supervises the work. We strive for inclusivity and diversity in our board and team of volunteers. We consider social involvement and a Christian background to be an important motivation for our work.
Our communty centre ‘Stap Verder’ in Amsterdam Zuidoost is about to write a new plan for the future. A large donation has created the opportunity to expand our activities.

The board member who takes on fundraising as responsibility enjoys the challenge of raising sufficient money in time to facilitate the work of Stap Verder.

This board member has the following tasks, in consultation with the co-ordinator, treasurer and the professional fundraising agency that assists us:
• writing project plans;
• drawing up project budgets;
• drawing up subsidy applications to funds;
• accounting to funds by means of interim consultations and (financial) annual reports;
• maintaining contacts with funds and recording these in interview reports;
• keeping records (planning & control system) when contact is needed with whom, in connection with dates for submitting applications to funds, when amounts have been awarded, when amounts need to be requested and when accountability is required;

We are looking for someone with the following competencies:
• financial insight;
• good communication skills;
• good command of the Dutch language, spoken and written;
• can promote the work of Stap Verder in an engaging and enthusiastic way;
• knows how to delve into the policy of the individual funds and connect with the work of Stap Verder, make connections and express shared interests.

As a volunteer you are eligible for an expense allowance. There is a directors’ liability insurance. A Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is requested.
