Nowhere else in the world can you get closer to Rembrandt than at the Rembrandt House Museum. We aim to inspire people from all over the world with Rembrandt, his work, and, his life. Would you like to help us welcome these people?
What will you do?
You will welcome visitors and groups, direct them to the cloakroom, distribute audio guides, and explain where the tour begins. Afterwards, you collect the audio guides. You will inform visitors about exhibitions and answer their questions. If necessary, you will assist people with physical disabilities. You will mostly work alone, occasionally with another volunteer host/hostess.
What do we ask of you?
You have some experience in a service-oriented (volunteer) role, gained in hospitality, tourism, retail, or an arts and culture institution. You speak good Dutch or English. If you also speak German, French, or Spanish, that would be very helpful.
You enjoy helping people. You have a polished appearance and are physically capable of standing and/or walking during an entire shift.
Sometimes it can get busy, but you maintain your equilibrium
You have an interest in the painter Rembrandt, the seventeenth century and the art of that period.
You are flexible in terms of availability. Currently, we are particularly looking for people who can work on Saturdays or Sundays.
What does The Rembrandt House Museum offer you?

We offer a public transport reimbursement for those traveling from outside Amsterdam (up to a maximum of 55 km one way) to Amsterdam Central, second class. If you are learning Dutch, the Rembrandt House is a great place to practice.
Working hours:
Morning shift: 09:30 – 14:00 hrs. Afternoon shift: 14:00 – 18:00 hrs. At least one shift every week. You can choose your own shifts.
